“Some people say that time heals all wounds, but no. Time only deepens the wound. And when I saw Olivia that night in the club, I realized I hated her now more than ever.”

Connor Matthews, former Marine and gun for hire, is not what you’d call the quintessential businessman. But when his father’s unexpected passing leaves the family business to him and his brother, Connor agrees to take over until his brother finishes his last tour of duty. Connor resigns himself to a life of dull meetings and paperwork, but quickly finds himself mired in his father’s web of shady business deals. And in the midst of the mess is Olivia Taylor, his gorgeous and headstrong ex-girlfriend.

Since they last parted, Olivia has known nothing but grief, heartache, and loss. Despite it all, she’s built a life for herself–a life with no room for the likes of Connor Matthews. She’s survived more than most could endure, but Connor has the ability to ruin everything she’s worked so hard to achieve. She must put the past behind her in order to survive . . . but can she forgive the man who broke her heart?

This was my first book by this author and it was really good!! The characters are strong and well thought out, the storyline compelling and gripping and the attention to detail by Brittney was great.
Olivia and Connor had history, and not the good kind. They are both strong willed and not easy to please. Connor can do literally anything. Ex marine, gun for hire, business man, the most romantic man in the world…yup, all of that. I loved him and I know you will too. Olivia has worked hard for everything she has in life. She’s strong, funny, loves w something fierce but most importantly has her heart guarded after what Connor did to her. When unexpected circumstances throw them back into each other’s lives they embark on a journey of tension, drama second chances.
Such a great book, I can’t wait for the next one!

Series Spotlight: The Imperfections Series by Shaniel Watson

Series Title – The Imperfections Series
Author – Shaniel Watson

Imperfections (Book 1)

Who knew falling in love with my best friend had the potential to single-handedly destroy my entire family?

For as long as I could remember I’ve been in love with sexy, lawyer extraordinaire Nicholas Alexander. We always had a certain chemistry growing up. Especially after we shared one passionate, forbidden, perfect kiss as teenagers. For years I hoped he could look past my overprotective brothers and our age difference so we could be more than friends, I was wrong. Four years ago I left New York and my heart behind. Now I’m back to stake a claim on the only man I’ve ever loved. But unbeknownst to me, things are way more complicated than I could imagine when I learn he’s engaged, to my sister.

Will the love and desire I feel for the one man I’ve ever truly wanted destroy me? Am I willing to risk it all, for a chance at everlasting love?

Catherine Reed is the one woman I couldn’t have but the one I always wanted. She was my best friend’s baby sister which means she was definitely off limits to me and anyone else if I had my way. Not even having a merry-go-round of beautiful girls could stop me from wanting her. Watching her leave was hard but I knew giving in to what I wanted back then would ruin her…us. All I’ve ever wanted was for her to be happy and to see her beautiful smile.

I haven’t gotten to where I am by always doing what’s right. She’s Back. I want Her. I have every intention of making her Mine.

Book1 Review

4 stars

Cat ( Catherine) is a young woman in her early twenties who has been friends with her big brother’s best friend, Nick, for years but also harbouring a secret love for him.
Nick always thought highly of Cat and was very protective of her.
A chance meeting with Cat’s older sister, Kate, sets a catastrophe in motion for everyone.
Ava, Nick’s cousin, adds a touch of humour and is a fun character.
Nick, at times, frustrated me to no end! The lies by omission and outright lies turn things around, especially from Kate who is a particularly nasty character.
I look forward to reading the next book.

Imperfections – Come to Light (Book 2)

After years of wanting her and fighting against myself, I finally had her. For one brief weekend I was whole, looking into the eyes of the woman I’ve always loved. The one person I’d do anything for.

Catherine Reed is the love of my life, but I blew it when she discovered her sister and I were engaged. But things have changed.

I know she doesn’t want anything to do with me, she needs time. Time to heal and repair the damage the discovery of our relationship did to her and her family. I’m willing to give her time, but I will not give up on us. She is my one true addiction and a love as strong as ours is worth fighting for.

Coming back to New York to be with my family and the man I’ve always loved seemed like the perfect plan. Little did I know that I’d be living in a kind of hell after my family turned against me. In the end, I had no choice but to let go of the love of my life, Nicholas Alexander.

I’m not sure if I can ever truly recover from losing a once-in-a-lifetime love and I know things will never be the same with my family. I didn’t think my life could get more complicated, but I was wrong. Consequences for the choices we’ve made may cost me everything.

Book2 Review

4 stars

This second story of Shaniel Watson’s still has some twisty its but is a much smoother ride.
Nick and Cat are lost in an impossible relationship that never seems to be cohesive. Being estranged from her family, Cat really learns what it’s like to have to rely on the one person you’d rather not. With her emotions all over the place she tries to move on without Nick.
Nick desperately wants Cat back in his life, especially his bed.
In this book they still struggle with family issues but Nick’s family comes to the fore.
I liked the way Nick recognised his shortfalls and does try to control his outbursts plus you see him ‘growing up’ emotionally. At times I could have shaken Nick but to me that shows the author getting the reader invested in the story.
I look forward to the next story in the series.

Review Tour: Filthy Bastard by Emily Minton & Shelley Springfield

Title: Filthy Bastard
Series: Grim Bastards MC
Authors: Emily Minton & Shelley Springfield
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: June 10, 2016
Cover Artist: Cover Me Darling
She’s a poor little rich girl.

With a vindictive mother and an obsessed brother-in-law, all Adyson Sloan wants is a little freedom—for her and her sister. She dreams of having a little room to breathe and making her own choices. But when she’s kidnapped by the Grim Bastards MC, freedom comes at a much higher price. Terrified, but determined to get back to her sister, Addy’s plans are ruined when she falls for a bastard with a chip on his shoulder.

He’s a bastard without a heart.

Sergeant at Arms Brew Decker plays by his own rules. To him, nothing is sacred but the brotherhood. He lives and dies by the club and would do anything for them—even kidnap an innocent woman. After all, she’s merely a pawn in the bigger game. But everything changes when he meets Addy. Suddenly, he’d do anything for his captive.

Can love between a rich girl and a bastard survive without someone losing it all?

Filthy Bastard is another amazing book in the Grim Bastards MC series. Emily Minton and Shelley Springfield have written a great series!
Adyson is strong, loyal, protective, and feisty. She will do anything to protect the people she loves. Including keeping the biggest secret of her life.
Brew is in the Grim Bastards MC. He’s loyal to the club and doesn’t really care about anything other than his brothers and the club. He’ll do anything the club needs him to do.
Filthy Bastard is definitely worth more than five stars and I can’t recommend it enough. There’s love, lies, betrayal, hot alpha males, and characters that would do anything to protect their loved ones. You will be pulled into the story and feel what the characters are going through.

Dirty Bastard is not the first book I have read by Emily Minton, but it is the first thing I’ve read by Shelley Springfield. It definitely won’t be the last though.
Trix grew up in the Satan’s Revenge MC. She knows what being around an MC involves. Trix is feisty, sweet, stands up for herself, and cares about those she thinks deserves to be in her life.
Boz also grew up in an MC. His dad was the President of the Grim Bastards MC. Boz is loyal, a good leader, an alpha male, and knows how to give sweet.
Can two people from rival clubs find love?
These two authors have written an amazing story and I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Grim Bastards MC series. Dirty Bastard has alpha males, plot twists, love, betrayal, and loyalty. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Review Tour: Taking a Chance on Love and To Dance One More Day by Rachel Jones

Desertion and death of her family leaves Jillian Russell alone in the world. A medical diagnosis takes away her performance career. Starting over in Charlotte, North Carolina, she opens a ballet company which takes all her resources and leaves no time to build new relationships.

Trauma surgeon, Alan Armstrong, is determined to fix Jillian’s life before he moves on to set up a rural community clinic that had been the top priority in his life, until he met Jillian.
Will their undeniable connection cause them to change their ambitions so they can be together? Or will they walk away from each other to continue on the paths they had chosen before they met?
Jillian lingered behind, thinking about her students. This was the best group of seven-year olds she had taught since opening the school. She enjoyed teaching all ages but this group was the highlight of her week. Sighing, she wondered if maybe it had something to do with the fact Lily would have been seven this year. Brushing the thought away, she moved to the piano and focused her attention on arranging the music for the dance company’s rehearsal the next night.
Her school of ballet was impressive but her dance company was her crowning glory. Expanding her lungs to their fullest she exhaled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. The North Carolina Ballet Company, now in its fifth year of existence, continued to experience growing pains and would for several years to come. As they grew in number they also grew in depth and dimension, becoming a cohesive group of artists excited to tell many stories through dance. Their progress was measured by the reputation they enjoyed for offering professional performances to the surrounding communities.
“You have a good-looking group of ballerinas, Jilly,” remarked David as he crossed the studio floor, followed by Alan.
The familiar voice brought a smile to her face. She had met David soon after moving to Charlotte when she was searching for a financial advisor. They had spent a lot of time together working on the financial end of setting up her school. When she took the plunge a year later, with David’s encouragement, and started the North Carolina Ballet Company, he was her biggest fan. Feeling she could trust him with her life, she was grateful he had accepted her invitation to be a part of the company’s initial board of directors.
Turning around at the sound of the tenor voice her eyes darted from her friend to the familiar form standing beside him. Her smile disappeared.
“You!” Jillian took a step back. “What are you doing here?”
“What’s wrong?” David’s gaze bounced back and forth between his friends. “Do you two know each other?”
Her eyes remained fixed on the doctor as if she were seeing him for the first time. He was tall, about six feet she estimated, with thick brown hair and he had the most gorgeous, deep set brown eyes. It was like looking into pools of chocolate and she was finding it hard not to stare. She shifted her gaze to her friend. “I recall seeing him at the hospital, after the explosion.”
“Oh, come on, Ms. Russell. I performed the surgery on your shoulder and I was your doctor for two days—until you fired me. And all you have to say is, ‘I recall seeing you’?”
“If memory serves it was a day and a half. And I’d prefer not talking about anything having to do with the explosion, if you don’t mind.”
“I see. Well, I hope your recovery is going well.”
“Yes it is thank you.”

This Was For Me A Really Beautiful Gentle Love Story That Wasn’t Full Of Angst, Lust Or Smut. It Was Just Nice.

From childhood, Virginia Manning has planned for a career as a concert clarinetist. Blindsided by family circumstances, her plans are interrupted, taking her down a path she would never have chosen. As a music teacher, Virginia’s relationship with the football coach goes from problematic to romantic. After Blake’s brush with death, a scared Virginia runs away looking for the contentment music has always brought to her life.

Because Blake Oliver has experienced disappointment and pain, he opts for a fresh start in a small New England town. Accepting the position of football coach, he isn’t looking for love when it finds him. But when Virginia leaves to pursue a performance career, Blake realizes it’s not where you live but having someone to love that matters. His only problem is making her understand that as well.

Blake was awake when Virginia entered the ICU cubicle. She pushed a chair against the hospital bed so she could hold his hand.

“I’m so glad you’re here,” he said.

Virginia looked at the tiny lines etched on his face. She wished she had magical powers and could erase them and all the pain he had endured the last few days since the accident. “The nurse said I could sit with you. Where’s your father?”

“Stephen took him home to sleep for a while. He’ll be back later.”

Blake shifted toward her and released a groan. “I hate to see you hurting.”

“My nurse was just here asking if I wanted pain medicine. He’s coming back. I would have waited to take the pain killer if I had known a beautiful woman would be stopping by to visit.”

“Good,” she said. “I’m glad you’re not one of those macho men who think it’s not masculine to take pain medicine when you need it.”

“Normally I wouldn’t. But since I’ve had surgery on my leg and I’m dealing with cracked ribs, a punctured lung, and a ruptured diaphragm, I’m willing to compromise my macho image and take the pain killers.”

Virginia frowned at the reminder of what he had been through. The nurse returned with a syringe in his hand. He scanned Blake’s armband and the barcode on the syringe then made a few clicks at the bedside computer.

As he pushed the medication into Blake’s IV line, he said, “Mr. Oliver, this will help with the pain, but it will make you drowsy. Sleep’s not a bad thing since your body needs rest to heal.”

Virginia smiled, knowing he would be escaping from his pain if only for a while. “I’m going to sit here and hold your hand until they throw me out.”

Blake’s eyes flickered open and shut a few times then remained closed. She whispered a prayer for strength, to help her be strong for him. The beeps of the heart monitor became rapid and other alarms sounded. Blake’s nurse rushed into the cubicle. He hit the red button on the wall and shouted, “I need help in here. He’s in V-fib.”

Virginia jumped up from her chair as the space filled with hospital personnel. She was pushed back and then outside. Leaning against the full-length window to support her trembling legs, she was aware of the dampness of her skin. Terror gripped her heart as she watched the surreal scene through the glass partition. The nurse performed chest compressions and in the dream state dominating her consciousness, she wondered if Blake’s chest would hurt later from the contact. Unable to move, her mind became mesmerized by the organized events unfolding in front of her.

A man with neatly combed hair in a white coat said, “Give Amiodarone, three hundred milligrams.”

Someone echoed, “Pushing Amiodarone, three hundred milligrams.”

Another set of hands gave the man paddles attached to the defibrillator on the crash cart. “Set to two hundred joules. Clear,” he said as placed the paddles on Blake’s chest and discharged the shock, causing his body to jump. Virginia watched as everyone paused and then someone uttered the words, ‘sinus rhythm,’ which brought a collective sigh of relief. Most everyone dispersed leaving only a few people at the bedside.

Blake’s nurse came to her and said, “He’s stable, but he’ll be sleeping for awhile. We’ll be watching him closely.”

Virginia brushed at the tears on her cheek. The nurse took a box of tissue from the counter and pushed it toward her. “I know this was a harsh thing to witness. You should go, try to rest and you can come back later.”

“Will he be all right? Could this happen again?”

“Mr. Oliver’s body has been through a lot. But he’s young and healthy. I’m sorry, but I need to get back inside.”

“Please, take care of him.” These were the same words she uttered as she passed the nurses’ station after each visit. But this time, the words were a special plea after witnessing how precarious his medical situation was. If she stayed, her heart would once again be vulnerable as in the past.

Virginia turned and walked away, trying to process what had happened as she moved toward the waiting room to call Blake’s father. The pain in her heart was genuine. An intense pain that went beyond her heart and stirred her soul. Was this what it felt like to lose someone who had become so entwined in your life? She wasn’t sure she would want to go on living if Blake didn’t survive his injuries.

Grabbing her by the waist, I push her up against the bed, and put my hand on her back to hold her down. “My girl loves to be stubborn and disobey the rules,” I whisper against her ear.

She moves her hips, and tries to push back against me, but I don’t let her.

“I want to spank your ass so bad right now,” I growl. Grabbing her hair, I force her to look at me. “Whenever you’re ready for some dirty sex, let me know. I have a few things I want to do to you before you start to show.”

“Mmm,” she moans.

Releasing her, I stand up and she turns so she is now facing me. She runs her fingers down my chest, and they linger at my belt buckle. She doesn’t go any further but, judging by the look on her face, I’m going to be getting what I want really soon.

She stands up to full height, and she leans in to whisper. “I can’t wait to have your hand on my ass, but I’ll need dinner. So, it looks like you would have to get home at a normal time to get what you want.”

Her finger trails around my body as she walks around me and out of the room. Chasing after her, I wrap my arms around her and pull her body to mine. “Tonight. Me and you, dinner followed by a night of dirty sex.”

She turns her face to kiss my lips before agreeing. “Deal, Romeo. Tonight, six p.m., don’t be late this time,” she whispers.

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” I reply, grabbing her ass.

Excerpt 1

Seeing Evan again is taking a toll on me, I can’t sleep and my mind is in a constant state of turmoil. I wake up in the middle of the night from dreams of us. The memories of him, of us are too much. Some memories have the ability to heal. The ability to light up the dark because the beauty of the memory is so bright you’re still able to bask in it.

But the memories of us are killing me slowly. They remind me that for one moment I had everything while reminding me it’s gone. It’s the realization that we’re done that’s killing me. The realization that I can see him but can’t touch him that he exist but he’s not mine is agonizing.

Excerpt 2

He’s beautiful his body is a work of art I want to touch him, I want to know what It feels like to have his bearded face against my delicate skin, I want to know if the rough edges I now see are smooth to the touch.

“June.” My name in his course tone gets my attention but when our eyes meet its not anger he’s looking at me with, its raw, powerful, hungry possessiveness.

Crossing behind the couch toward the kitchen, I find myself remembering those naked, intimate moments with Kayden only a short time ago. The passion. The trust I’d felt for him. And then his words: “We both want more. Until we don’t.” The words send a surge of adrenaline and nerves through my body.

The scent of freshly brewed coffee teases my nostrils as I reach the kitchen, where I immediately find Kayden standing behind the island. But it’s not him that makes my heart lurch, as usual. It’s my gun that’s lying on the counter between us.

And when I should perhaps step backward I find myself charging forward to claim the other side of the counter.

“What is that for?”

“You thought you needed it earlier,” he says. “I want you to have it now.”

My fingers curl on the tiled counter. “Do I need it?”

“That’s for you to decide.”

“That isn’t the answer I want.”

His jaw sets hard. “If you’re expecting an answer you’ll want, you’d better pick up that gun.”

We stare at each other, a push and pull between us that has nothing to do with fear or intimidation, and everything to do with a bond we both know is being tested. “I know what you’re doing.”

“What am I doing?”

“The same thing you did outside that church, when you helped me hold the gun to your chest.”

“Which is what?”

“Offering me the façade of control.”

“You holding a loaded gun on me in no way equals a façade.”

“I know you now,” I counter. “You don’t give up control, even when you say you are.”

He rests his hands on the counter, one turned just enough for me to catch a glimpse of the hawk inked on his wrist, its wings spread, the mark of a man whose rules of many must dictate his actions. “There are two sides to this coin,” he says, his words drawing my attention, his pale blue eyes piercing mine. “The me with you, and the me with everyone else.”

“We barely knew each other at the church.”

“I’d already decided you were mine. You just didn’t know it yet.”

I’m thrilled to develop a television show that will tell Sara’s whole story – her life, her work, her friends, and her sexuality.

In addition to the success of Lisa’s INSIDE OUT series, she has published many successful titles. The TALL, DARK AND DEADLY series and THE SECRET LIFE OF AMY BENSEN series, both spent several months on a combination of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling lists. Lisa is presently working on a dark, edgy new series, Dirty Money, for St. Martin’s Press.
Prior to publishing Lisa owned multi-state staffing agency that was recognized many times by The Austin Business Journal and also praised by the Dallas Women’s Magazine. In 1998 Lisa was listed as the #7 growing women owned business in Entrepreneur Magazine.

Lisa loves to hear from her readers. You can reach her at and she is active on Twitter and Facebook daily.

Pride and Punishment by Nia Farrell and Jane Austen

NF Blog Tour

white P&P 3D

Gold blurb

PRIDE AND PUNISHMENT by Nia Farrell is an erotic retelling of a Jane Austen classic.

Characters that you thought you knew…well, they’re ready to reveal their secret selves. Mr. Darcy is a Dominant. Miss Elizabeth Bennet is submissive. Jane Bennet might be the only “handsome” woman in Meryton, but puppy-like Charles Bingley needs a Mistress with a firm hand. Mr. Darcy believes that Jane lacks steel in her corset and separates the couple.

His growing lust for Miss Elizabeth leads him to confess his desire to dominate her – a proposition that she mistakes for a proposal. Already accused of less-than-gentlemanlike behavior, Darcy must find a way to win the submissive heart of a woman who abhors him.

The original dialogue has been kept intact when possible. Passages modified to fit this retelling are rife with subtext and laden with innuendo. The basic timeline is essentially the same as Pride and Prejudice, but the characters populating the pages now include Darcy’s bisexual cousin Hugh, his dominant Aunt Catherine/Mistress Cat, his “little” cousin Anne, his submissive sister Georgiana, kinky defiler-of-virgins George Wickham, lesbian switch Caroline Bingley, and militiamen who see more action in their bunks than out.
This erotic Regency romance includes MF relationships, MFM ménage sexual congress, and BDSM activities and is written for adults only.

Gold Excerpt

It is said that you can tell how a person makes love by how they can dance, and dark-eyed Miss Elizabeth is known for her dancing. Hmm….

The ball is as I feared. The same sea of faces. The same calculating gleam in the eyes of matrons who view me as marriage mart material for their daughters. The younger women with dance cards attached to their wrists look either relieved or disappointed when they spy my walking stick. Of ebon wood topped a hallmarked silver knob, it was a gift from my Aunt Catherine, who instructed me to employ it well. The stick, however sees little use in Room 366, where crops, rods, floggers, tawses, strops, belts, and canes abound but are seldom employed. Unlike Hugh, I prefer ropes to rods, and blindfolds to bits. There is nothing like a willing woman in bondage.

And if said woman needs disciplined, or punished for pleasure, I prefer the use of my hand, and the feel of flesh upon flesh when counting out the blows.

The Bennet family arrives shortly after we do. Mrs. Bennet leads the way, a hen with five chicks trailing behind her. The younger two peel off as soon as they spy a clutch of red-coated officers by the punch bowl. Bingley makes a beeline for Miss Jane and converses briefly with her mother before luring her away with the excuse of a beverage. The middle daughter – the one who plays piano – darts her gaze and clutches her reticule, looking as if she would rather be anywhere else than here.

I know the feeling.

But Miss Elizabeth Bennet, with her dark eyes and last season’s dress, looks excited. In her element. Ready to take on all comers brave enough to request a space on her dance card. She greets a female friend who appears closer to my age than Miss Bennet’s. Their two heads press together as they walk and talk, taking seats on the side of the room opposite the banquet table where Charles is serving Miss Jane a cup of punch.

And by serving, I mean that in every conceivable way, God help us.

The need to dominate rises in me. I wish to order Charles to cease, to desist, to resist whatever pull he fancies himself experiencing. If I could, I would separate them. As it is, I am forced to watch a potential disaster in the making, like a massive wave barreling toward the shore that will either lose its power and fade to nothing or smash whatever stands in its way.

Sir Lucas notes the craftsmanship of my walking stick and remarks upon its beauty. He is too polite to inquire why I have it. I am no military man, wounded in battle, but I am a horseman and more than one rider has been left with a limp. Fortunately, that is not the case with me, but I say nothing and allow him to keep guessing.

Charles dances every dance. Two of them are with Miss Jane Bennet. He dances once with her sister. Miss Elizabeth, with her throaty voice and dark eyes, may not have her oldest sister’s beauty, yet watching her dance, I cannot help but notice her grace, her lightness of foot, her ability to execute perfectly the most intricate of steps. She is the perfect partner when she allows Charles mislead her, following his missteps when she clearly knows better.

No. A thousand times, no!

I cannot risk the distraction that she poses. I cannot allow myself to envision what she would look like, stripped, naked and kneeling at my feet or bound to a whipping bench with her derriere glowing with red handprints and her mouth at the perfect height. I must keep my faculties sharply focused on my mission. It is not enough that I see the deficiencies in Miss Jane’s nature, where Charles is concerned; Charles must see them too. It must be his decision to break things off. His decision to quit this place. His choice to not renew the lease on Netherfield Hall when the year is through.

The problem is, Miss Jane Bennett is a pleasant person. She greets everyone with unfailing politeness. No cross words escape her lips. Caroline and Louisa may pick other women apart likes harpies, but Miss Jane disparages no one. She dances with any man who approaches her, allowing the most ill-favored to enjoy her company for the length of a pair of dances. She seems to like Charles well enough, but then she seems to like everyone. It occurs to me that she does not particularly show him favor. Rather, he is one of many. There is nothing in her behavior that marks him as more.

Flexing my hand on the ornately patterned knob top of my walking stick, I press my fingers into its intricately chased silver, feeling the cool metal warm beneath my grip. Caroline Bingley eyes my hold and looks at me curiously.

I allow her half a smile. She is, after all, desirous of the same end result – although not quite as concerned with how well it ends, so long as it ends. Amicably or badly, it makes no difference to her.

“And how is your evening?” I ask, all politeness.

She sighs dramatically and wrinkles her nose behind her fan. “Dreadful,” she whispers. “I pled fatigue with the last fellow, but I cannot put them all off. For my brother’s sake, if they are bold enough to ask for a dance, I am obliged to accept. Just so you know, Charles has accepted an invitation to Sir William Lucas’s assembly next Friday. Thank heavens, it is a private affair. The caliber of company should be improved – perhaps enough that you can be prevailed upon to abandon your cane and dance with me. Are you certain that you cannot be tempted?”

I slant a look down at her, examining her guileless face. Guileless, except for the calculating gleam in her eye. Like most women her age, Caroline looks to the future and how best to provide for it. Marriage to a man of my income, she would lack for nothing – including maidservants whom she might prevail upon, who would willingly submit to her and feed her need for control. Or she might install Patrice as a permanent guest and look no further than the door across the hall to assuage her natural desires. It is her marriage bed that would be unnatural. I cannot imagine that she or her husband would find happiness in it, merely duty fulfilled, some pleasures of the flesh while engaged in the act, with the intent to procreate.

“No,” I tell her, looking across the dance floor where Miss Elizabeth Bennet moves like a goddess among mortal men. “No. I cannot be tempted.”

I will not be tempted.

Not by Caroline, and not by her.

When crafting a story, Nia draws upon a rich diversity of life experiences, which include singer/songwriter, prize winning needle artist, private pilot, Reiki Master/Teacher, crystal healer, psychic fair reader, jewelry maker, physician’s assistant, factory worker, waitress, genealogist, period reenactor, and children’s author. If this life isn’t enough, there are plenty of others to choose from. Otherwise, she devotes hours of research to subjects outside her realm, determined that her stories ring true.

A seventh generation Illinoisan, she is descended from Mayflower Pilgrims, American soldiers from the Revolutionary War to World War II, and Scottish nobility. She enjoys playing in the past and visits Ren fairs and historical reenactments in period attire, sharing her love of history and her passion for music. Holy Jesus sittin’ on his rainbow, does Matt look delicious. He looks so fucking manly, incredibly sexy and completely all consuming like I remember. When he first called out my name, I swear my ovaries perked up like the mothership had arrived to bring us to planet Gonna Get My Rocks Off!

Fuckity fuck fuck. He’s actually here, and I know I’m in trouble. My kryptonite is facing me, his light brown eyes laced with flecks of mahogany. They rake over me, taking in my now wired body inch-by-inch. His gaze is heavy and painstakingly slow, igniting my skin with a warmth I’ve not experienced in a long time. God, I hope he likes what he sees. Wait, no. No, I don’t.

In mere seconds, this man is inciting a frenzy of emotions that prove exactly why I wasn’t ready to see him yet, proving that I needed more time before this reunion, confirming that he can easily annihilate all of my best-laid plans, the ones my brain has worked overtime convincing my heart to make. I need more time to make proper preparations, to ensure my bridge troll is ready for battle, that he is stable enough to keep the drawbridge strategically locked in place, ready to withstand the blunt force that is Matt Bishop.

Most of all, I want more time to practise the apology and then the time to actually apologize—to explain. Time to just tell him I’m sorry. Looking at him, feeling him, I realize I can’t risk more than that or I will be lost again.

Unfortunately, none of what my brain wants is happening right now. He’s here. And from the moment I set eyes on Matt, all I want is him, anyway I can have him.

Moving up from my neck, Matty whispers softly in my ear and my breath hitches: “Tell me, Claire, do you still taste sweet? Like sugar melting on my tongue, leaving that addicting-as-fuck strawberry ice cream taste running down my chin?” He tickles my memory, my throat forgetting how to swallow as he wets his tongue and moves it lightly over my earlobe, awakening the familiar pulse between my legs, the one that always builds with each of this man’s dirty words. “Christ, baby. You were so fucking good, my tongue licking up every single drop of juice that dripped from your hot tight cunt.” The timbre of his voice causes tingles to travel down my spine, the anticipation of where this is all going making my toes curl at the prospect. “I want to kiss you, Claire. Tell me it’s okay to kiss you.”

“Jesus, Matt.” I want to sag against him. His filthy words make my knees weak.

Matt squeezes my hips, pulling me flush to his strong body. Leaning in, he runs his mouth ever so softy along my neck before meeting my eyes again.

I step out of his hold, needing to give myself a bit of distance. But instead, I find myself staring at him, unable to look beyond the man of my past, the one I can’t seem to let go. The same one for whom my heart thumps erratically in my chest, the same one I wish almost daily I’d kept, the same one I don’t know if I can keep.

I can’t believe we’re back here.

Matt’s beyond the man-pretty guy I remembered. His chiseled jaw is highlighted by more than a five o’clock shadow. His lush lips are full, with that pouty bottom one making me want to tug on it because it’s so tauntingly perfect. He’s fucking ripped, too—Adonic, if you will. His plain white-t-shirt strains over his incredible shoulders, his defined chest and toned biceps. The telltale marks of tight abs pull my gaze as I make my slow perusal, visibly eye-fucking the shit out of him. God, I like what I see. A lot.

I want nothing more than to run my tongue along each dip and dive of this man’s body. Matty’s body was made for sin and I’d gladly volunteer as the sinner if it meant I’d get to repent at the shrine that is this man. I let out an almost audible moan as I stand lusting for all the things I want to do to him.

Matt pulls me back in tight, holding me close against him, laughing against my ear. “Like what you see, Claire?”

I’m busted. I’ve got drool stains all over the front of my shirt, no doubt.

Hell, yes. “It’s all right,” I shrug, but can’t help the nervous giggle that escapes my dumb-ass self as I’m caught.

“I think you do. Better yet, I know you fucking do and I know I affect you still, even now.”

“Jesus, Matt. Okay, yes, I guess you’re still kinda hot and maybe you do affect me just a little bit.” I give him an impish grin.

“Thank Christ for small miracles. And for the record, I can smell that it’s more than ‘a little’.”

“Matt!” I shove at his chest, feigning embarrassment. If it were anyone else I might have been, but not with Matt. No, with him I’ve only ever been comfortable, been myself.

Matt takes the remote off the bar, turning up Keith Sweat’s “Nobody”, the sound pumping through the speakers.

“Dance with me.” It’s not a request, but a command. Holy shit. This is happening. Matt Bishop, my Matty, is standing here, holding me tight in his arms after two years. There’s so much I need to say, want to say. But in this moment it’s obvious that words aren’t required, that this is what we both need from each other. Matt’s lips hover over mine.

“Can I kiss you now, Claire?”

Review Tour: Revealed by Samyah Leighton

Book 2 of the Redemption Series
AUTHOR: Samyah Leighton
GENRE: Erotic Romance
Warnings: Contains strong language, domestic abuse and rape

Skylar’s ex-husband Chris has discovered her secrets and is using them against her to get what he wants. And what he wants is her. Believing she’s the only woman for him, Chris is desperate to prove to Skylar that he’s the only man for her. He wants his wife back at all cost and he’s willing to do anything to keep her. Even blackmailing her into another marriage.
Skylar is desperate to protect Jackson and Sutton from the truth coming out so she agreed to return to L.A. with Chris. However, she’s struggling with her decision to leave her family behind and is hell bent on getting back to them. She tries her best to stay on Chris’ good side until she can find some leverage to free herself but when Chris sets the date for their wedding it kicks Skylar’s quest for freedom into overdrive.
Jackson and Sutton are confused and hurt by Skylar’s unexpected departure. Sutton is very suspicious and has doubts about the nature of her mother’s sudden absence but not Jackson. He believes Skylar willingly left them and he’s furious. Skylar’s abandonment devastates Jackson and pushes him into the arms of an unlikely companion.
Will Skylar find a way back to her family before Chris get what he wants? Or will there be a wedding in Skylar’s immediate future?

I jolt upright in bed, clutching my chest and gasping for air. That was the worst dream ever. To my left, Jackson is sound asleep. Needing security but not wanting to wake him, I scoot closer and rest my head on his chest then wrap my arm around his waist. Hmm…home. Relief floods me as I lay draped around him. My heart rate returns to normal as I begin to relax. My dream was so vivid; it seemed so real. Jackson was sleeping with other women, his father had died, and Chris had attacked me and blackmailed me to desert my family. That was one hell of a nightmare. Jackson stirs in his sleep and slowly starts to wake.
“Morning, beautiful,” he says in his deep, sensual drawl. I love his voice in the morning. It’s much deeper and sexier and always makes me moist when I hear it.
“How did you know I was awake?”
“I told you, I’m psychic.”
I laugh. “No you’re not.”
“When it comes to you I am,” he says assuredly while stroking my hair.
“I love it when you run your fingers through my hair,” I tell him. I always have. There’s a tender possessiveness about the way he does it. It makes me feel wanted, desired and owed. That might sound strange but I don’t mind being his. I was from the first moment we met.
“I love it when you lay on my chest like this. I’ve missed it,” he states sadly.
“What are you talking about? I lay on your chest like this all the time.”
“Yeah, you used to. And I’ve really missed it these last two years.”
What is he talking about? And what happened to his voice? It’s a higher pitch and it’s missing that slight Texas twang that gives me chills.
“Skylar, did you hear me? Are you awake?”
Waking out of my half-conscious state, I stare up at the man in bed beside me. I squint from the bright sunlight shining in through the widows as I take in the sight of my ex-husband, Chris. He’s staring down at me with concerned eyes. Quickly, I remove myself from his chest and move as far away from him as I possibly can. Confusion still clouds my mind; I’m not sure what’s real and what’s not. Trying to ascertain if I’m awake, I pinch myself hard on the arm. The stinging of my probably bruised flesh convinces me that sadly, I am and everything I thought was a nightmare is all true.

This Story Continues Right From The End Of Deceived And Has The Same Fire As The Last.

Although There Is A Lot I Hated About This Book. I Hated How Skylar Was Treated For One And I Hated More That Jackson And Sutton Treated Her Like It.

I Got Frustrated And Wanted To Hurt Alot Of The Characters I Liked In Deceived. Again No Spoilers From Me But I Think You Guessed That. Here’s Hoping Book 3 Isn’t Far Off.
